Melissa Seitz, MA LMHCA
I am newly new to Seattle; I recently just moved from Atlanta, GA. I taught pre-K in a private schools for seven years prior to becoming a counselor. It was through my teaching experiences that I realized my true purpose was counseling children. In 2015, I went back to school and earned a M.A. in Clinical Mental Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. During my masters degree education, I was also introduced to Play Therapy and I am currently working towards my certificate as a Certified Play Therapist.
My approach when working with children and adolescents is play therapy with a cognitive behavioral approach to help children develop new skills to cope with difficulties including sadness, fears, worries, behavioral problems, and stress. I will also provide guidance and coaching to parents to help them support their children’s healthy development and answer any questions that they have. When working with adults I use a personal center approach that helps the client see their own capacity to help fulfill their own potential. I help guide my clients in seeing their own personal growth and change.
I work with the following types of concerns:
- Anxiety & depression in children & teens
- Emotion regulation & behavioral issues
- Children on the autism spectrum
- Family transitions such as divorce or loss
- Parent coaching & support
$1oo – individual sessions (50 minutes)
